Rockford Area Community Endowment 2024 Recognition Dinner

Rendition - Wood Vase

RENDITION

Rendition is a piece turned by Gordon L. Pickerd for the purpose of pushing himself out of his comfort zone in the pursuit of expressing and showing the beauty of wood. Rendition is composed of 438 individual pieces of hardwood, Maple Padauk, and Black Walnut, constructed one layer at a time over several months.

Gordon, a retired Patternmaker, was intrigued and inspired by a vase turning featured in a 2006 issue of Fine Woodworking Magazine crafted by Jerry K. Elmore. Larger than Jerry’s piece, Rendition measures 12” in diameter by 20” in height.

Gordon created Rendition for the Rockford Area Community Endowment (RACE) to be auctioned at the Friday, May 3, 2024 RACE Recognition Dinner. The proceeds will be used for grants RACE provides to the Greater Rockford community. Gordon’s hope is that the person who purchases Rendition will enjoy it as much as he has enjoyed the challenge of creating it.
